Project O is an Orphan support organization working for the well being of all Orphans. Our self-sufficient children's homes offer, life skills; health care, economic development and promotion of justice, helping communities help themselves.
Established to care for South African orphans, Project O plans to embrace the larger issues of community development and advocacy for the poor in its mission to help children and their families build sustainable futures.
Working in The Valley of a Thousand Hills, Project O will have the first 100% self-sufficient children homes in the World. We hope that this will attract supporters and sponsors from all over the globe.
The heart of Project O's work is in helping children who have become orphans due to the AIDS epidemic here in Africa.
Project O focuses on children due to the massive scale of the problem. It is predicted that there will be 3,000,000 million orphans by 2007.
Project O is an international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in working with orphans of Africa to promote human transformation, seek justice and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God.

AIDS
LITERALLY A LIFELINE
LETS GET THIS IN PERSPECTIVE.
9 million people living with HIV/AIDS. According to latest CIA research.
A recent KZN NEWSPAPER states 69% INFECTION RATE in Embo, The valley of a thousand hills, which happens to be the place where we started this work.
95% DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO LIFE PROLONGING AVR DRUGS.
95% of those with AIDS will be dead in 2-5 years.
6 million of those infected are women each leaving behind 3 children on average.
This country is headed for serious trouble. What is the answer for the tidal wave of orphans that is headed South Africa’s way?
FIRSTLY
We believe 100% self-sufficient homes for a number of children that is not different from the norm in `South Africa, around six children in each house.
As such a massive number of homes will be needed to house these children it will be impossible to keep raising the money to sustain these homes on a long-term basis. Therefore the only possible solution is to come up with is
100% self-sufficient homes. Not an easy task as our research suggests no organisation has yet managed 100% self-sufficiency for children’s homes.
But we have come up with several projects that will in theory sustain a minimum of one children’s home each. Each of these projects will be in addition to wind turbines and solar panels on each home promoting free electricity.

SECONDLY
SUPPORT OF ORPHANS IN EXTENDED FAMILIES
There are many children orphaned by AIDS that have been absorbed or taken in by their extended families. This more often than not puts extreme stress and pressure on the family in many ways including financially. We have come across families who have taken in up to 6 extra orphans (on top of their 6 children) which leaves food at an absolute minimum often children are going hungry.
With this in mind we set up our sponsorship program that provides the following in the extended family home in which they live.
1) Full monthly food
2) School fees
3) School uniform
4) Home visits by our staff
John Maxwell said it best when he said,
‘In every age there comes a time when a leader must come forward to meet the needs of the hour.’
That is an amazing statement. The needs of this hour are screaming for our attention. You just heard the needs of this nation. Somebody needs to come forward! That somebody may be you and me!
